"If Music be the Food of Love, Play On"
The bard’s words echoed through our spring time adventure through Portsmouth.
It was my privilege to capture some of Becky and Robin’s favorite places as we went on a walking tour of the quaint historic seaside downtown. Stopping by shaded benches, the Memorial Bridge, local businesses and quaint walkways, I found myself learning more about this wonderful couple through the venues that they chose to stop. So many places in this town were a part of their story.
I am getting ahead of myself. I have known this dynamic couple for a couple of years now, first through my work with different theater groups, and then on my own personal projects. They are both wonderful people, funny, jovial, clever, intelligent, and talented. It came as a bit of a shock to me when I found out that they were a bit nervous to be in front of a camera.
I assured them that we would be very organic and low key with our shoot. It was then that another quote from Shakespeare came to mind. “All the world is a stage.” This place, the setting of their love story, the shops, and benches each lent their own details to the narrative. Each place we passed held memories, and as we walked new ones were forged. As our journey continued around bends, and down streets, and over bridges, I found myself not only in the role of photographer, but once again as a narrator to a part of this beautiful love story, which tends to be one of my favorite parts of my job.
I am very excited to be able to be a part of Becky and Robin’s wedding story, and have the great privilege of putting together in picture form this wonderful part of their journey. Play on.
